  • Ignition switch wiring - '96 3.0ltr

I'm wiring the 12s socket for towing a caravan. Does anyone know which wire I should tap in to on the ignition switch, for the fridge connection (pin 6 in the socket).

Also it seems like someone has "chipped" the speedo to show miles on the odometer. Good idea, but it was done at around 60000 kliks and didnt convert, now those kms are showing as miles !! Any ideas how i can put it right.

Can you not use a direct 12volt feed from battery with an inline fuse,
this would be simpler with maybe a switch on the dash to turn it on/off

When wiring the fridge via the 12S it is better to take a feed from the rear of the alternator to a relay that way you are not messing with the ignition system wiring. Also remember that the 12S wiring for a fridge was changed around 1996 to give a seperate earth via pin 7 (Black centre wire) prior to this the earth return was through pin 3 (White wire) The 12 volt live feed pin 6 (red wire) remains the same. So check the caravan year of manufacture.
