  • I am not happy

I drove about 100yds trying to get to work last night when the dashboard lit up extra bright, the rev counter jumped up a few thousand on the gauge and the wipers moved a little bit.
Needless to say I was confused. I thought I'd move the wipers back to where they should be so after doing that the entire car shut down. Dead.
Turns out the 100A fuse had blown. Again.
Any ideas why this would happen?
And where is the main earth on a 3L 2nd gen?
I'm so close to selling this right now.
    Still Can't believe I own a Hilux

If you,re talking about the big fuse that bolts in underneath your fusebox then it might be worth looking at the insulated rail that feeds your heater plugs.i blew this same fuse on my old 2nd gen years ago and i traced it to part of that rail which has worn very slightly against the engine causing a massive direct short.i only spotted it because it was getting dark when i put the new fuse in and saw the flash when it blew again.this might not be the cause but i,d start there!

Nice one mate I'll check that tomorrow.
Currently got the O/D OFF light blinking at me after sorting the fuse, would that suggest a connection somewhere on the gearbox?

With the O/D button in both positions?

Nah, only when it should be off.
If I turn overdrive off with the button then the light just stays on as usual.

This is then indicating a fault in the box.
There is a way of checking the fault codes.
Try a search or Tony will be along with the answer soon.

                Huh? what?

Fault codes, yeah, bridge Te1 and e1, ignition on, press O/D button, count flashes, google codes, fix problem, have a beer.
