All sorted now, I followed the advise on this site and sourced some relays from Maplins. It took me 35 minutes to remove the relay box, solder in a replacement relay and re-fit it all back together.

With a little silicone spray along the window tracks it now works much faster too.

Which relays did you get from Maplins ? I tried them when I needed replacements and they were no help at all.

Sub-Miniature Automotive PCB Relay
G8SN-1C7-CUK 12DC (320oms) spdt motor,resistive.

JM67X 12V/12A Min relay

yup those are the ones. you have to be very careful not to damage the circuit board when removing solder and when re-soldering. take as much time as it takes. Worst case scenario any decent electronic shop will charge a small amount to do it and it shouldn't take then very long at all. better safe than sorry.
