  • Anyone an electronics guru ?

    Is it possible to recalibrate or modify a tacho that reads 4 cylinder to read for a 8 cylinder ? Basiclly a 8 cylinder engine has been fitted into a 4 cylinder vehicle and the tacho is now way out . Can a resistor or anything be fitted to reduce the reading ? Dont want to change dash , need to keep it original .

    It has been done on the V6 conversions in MR2s so I don't see why not, I'll have a look on twobrutal and see what they advise.

    I bypassed that little hiccup on my conversion with an aftermarket tacho and standalone ecu.

        Seems like a resistor/potentiometer can be used in place of the ballast resistor on the gauge, the guy who does the lions share of MR2 engine transplants in the UK modifies them (www.woodsport.org).

        Alternatively there are these little boxes of gadgetry:
