Hi all, I'm having a small issue with some wires. Due to this low emission zone rubbish as from jan next year my hilux pick up on a 97 2.4 will no longer b able to enter the m25 gutted! It's only done 80000 miles so I decided to swap the engine into a surf on a 93 plate, same engine with a few small differences, under the inlet manifold on the 93 surf there is two wires that were bolted there but on the pick up loom there is none so does anyone know off hand what these wires are for? I have the starter motor wire down there and the wire for the glow plugs that bolts to the top side of the inlet but I am baffled as to where these wires will go on the pick up engine as it has no bolt and nut under the inlet, r they just earths? Do they need to b connected? The bolt on the underside of the inlet was insulated so I'm wondering if it's a live of some sort?

Its a resistor for the glowplugs, if you don't need it bolt the earth to anywhere nearby, and cut the tag of the live and insulate it nice and neatly with some heat shrink or similar so it can't cause any trouble.
Check the voltage of the glowplugs on the Pickup motor compared to the Surf ones, you may need it, may not. Not sure how power is regulated on the 7 or the 11 volt glowplugs, this may be for it. Swap the manifolds over if you do.4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...

Thanks for the quick reply
Nice one! Ok i have both engines out at mo as pick up was only one with mot, is there a quick way of finding out as checking voltage will not b an option, the pick up is a LN 108 jap import on a 97 an the surf is a LN 130 on a 93 both 2.4 tdALL THE GEAR!............no idea!

Yeah ur right
Yeah I changed them over anyway an they both had 11v stamped on the side and according to roughtrax they are the same from 79 onwards. So next prob! Not in the right section I know sorry, I changed the engine over surf to pick up had trouble starting the surf engine in the pick up due to a faulty diesel primer pump prob never been used, any way after swapping primers over and a can of brake cleaner lata she started ran her up an all was well but when I went bak the following morn it wouldn't start! As I'm turning her over I'm getting White smoke out the bak after bout 3-4 6 second turns she rattles an knocks an fires up in a cloud of White smoke an runs fine, im sure it's over fueling but can't work out why, the engine never did this in the surf an everything is a straight swap. All I changed was the plugs and the top of the diesel pump as there was a temp sender in there on the pick up engine so I thought the ecu might b looking for it apart from that an a connector on said fuel pump that is it. If I turn it off an start again within 5-10 mins there's no prob but any longer an it happens again. I had a similar prob bafore but this was due to me getting carried away undoing the head bolts, many air locks an overheats Lata it came to me in a dream, U TWĄT U WARPED THE HEAD, so got it skimmed an all was well! But this can't b the case this timeALL THE GEAR!............no idea!

Think they the same
I'm pretty sure they both the same fuel pumps, all the connectors were like for like apart from the bottom wired one which I just swapped the connector over on, an this sensor on the top, which I changed over anyway.ALL THE GEAR!............no idea!
