most of the ime if you use the key and the wiper is not home it will go home first, BUT the other day i knocked the rear wiper on and off again and my window would not open at all , there are a few switches that can stop the window going down and it is more than just giving the wiper a shove to make sure it is where it should be.so much to do , so little money , so little time

Originally posted by RobDThe window isn't moving at all,I've tried the switch (can hear a click when I press switch)and the key in the tailgate(number plate light mount)all this does is lock the tailgate!
crawl inside and make sure its down properly, when check the wiper arm is in the right place, then you'll have to crawl inside again, and pop the cover off the inside of the tailgate and see if the motor is getting power when the switch is pressed or key is turned.4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...

This may just be me being daft, but are the 'rules' th same on a '96 car ?
They have up and over tailgates don't they ? Does this change the use of the key lock ?

Right, 3rd gen rules:
Turning the key in the tailgate to the left (anticlockwise) and then immediately back to centre will unlock the tailgate.
Turning the key in the tailgate to the right (clockwise) and then immediately back to centre will lock the tailgate.
Turning the key anticlockwise and holding it there will unlock the tailgate (if locked) and wind down the window.
Turning the key clockwise and holding it there will wind up the window and lock the tailgate when the window gets all the way up.
When the rear wiper is on, the rear wiper will stop automatically while the rear window is in operation. This applies to using the key not the switch on the dash.
The dash switch operates just like other window switches (ie up and down). It does not work when the Window Lock Switch is on. The dash switch also only works when the ignition is ON (not in OFF or ACC positions).
Hope that helps. I only just realised the key locks and unlocks the tailgate myself, I thought it just did the window. I normally just use the remote anyway which is probably why I never noticed
