  • 2.4 ECU questions...

    Hi All,

Can anyone help with any of these please

Sorry for the long list, but I can't seem to find any useful diagrams in Haynes or Ellery

    1. Where is the ECU located?

    2. On the dash, there is an Engine Check light in the tacho, and also one in the bottom right (by ECT light). Which one of these should be the one to glow/flash?

    3. Neither of these lights when the ign is turned on, and neither offers any flashes when trying to read the fault codes, so what are symptoms of a dead ECU, or 'limp home'?

    4. Turbo light comes on for a sec with ign, but does not light in use, though the turbo is def. providing a good level of pressure - does this also point to ECU issue?

    5. Apart from the operation of the turbo and check light, everything else on the truck seems to work, and it drives fine, so does this suggest just a loom problem between the ECU and dash ?

    6. Any idea where to get a copy of the actual Toyota service manuals? I had a scanned PDF one for the MR2, and it was a lifesaver for EFI issues

    Thanks !

You can find all you need here...

Once you've bridged the E1 and TE1 terminals in the diagnostics box, switch on ignition and the red LED in the tacho should flash.

The ECU is behind the passenger side kick panel.
