  • Getting into the door electric windows

The back passenger door window decided to stick today, after it moving up and down an inch it eventually closed again and I resolved not to touch it again until I've opened it up, greased the actuator, and cleaned and silicon-sprayed the runners.

Have searched the forum for hints on how to get into the door without buggering something up, but no joy.

So, can someone who's done this please post up a how-to guide??

Will probably do all the doors - have lavished attention on the tail gate window to the exclusion of all the other electric windows

Just open the door, take the armrest and the door handle trim off and, starting at the bottom, gently pull the card off.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

ok, it's dark outside, and I'm being lazy - take it the armrest is secured by screws - under it somewhere??

Drivers door - all the window switches there - are they a beggar to get out of the road to get into the window mech there?

And while I'm on the subject, are those switches meant to be illuminated at all? Have to do it all by feel and memory just now

There are bungs on the armrests, you'll see them, Phillips screws behind them.

The switches clip out, lift them from the front first.

Only the drivers door switches are illuminated.

I've only taken of the front door trim, but here's how it went - remove bungs from arm rest - two phillips screws underneath - one screw on door handle - hit door handle with palm of hand to release it (towards front of car) - start pulling from bottom of door to release all the hidden trim clips - the handle needs twisting to get it through the hole.

Mr rear windows are a bit sticky too, i'll have to do mine too, let me know how you get on.

I'm thinking there may have been a forth screw somewhere but I'm not sure (was taking apart my girlfriends car at same time to fit speakers so may be getting confused)

Hummm - back passenger windows are both sticking a lot - got into the inside of one and covered the actuator teeth in grease, difficult to get to the window runners - they are in the bowels of the door and well hidden.... Sprayed in loads of silicon spray at the bits of runner I could see, and lots at the top in the hope it might run down the channels a bit.

Helped the window down and up a few times, but it's not really any better

Not sure what the next step is....

Should maybe invest in a Haynes manual and consider stripping the window right out and replacing any problem parts??

Or just live with it for now......
