Hello, My 4wd has packed up because of two wires in a loom under the chassis have come away from their connectors. The connectors are encased in a grey two way connector shroud and come off a switch module which I think comes off the solenoid. Trouble is my main dealer said he needs to see the car to identify the parts but in this weather with no 4WD there's no way I can get the car there. Does anybody have a clue what the part no's might be? Thanks.

Thanks guys, I rang the main dealer parts dept, they said bring the car down which I did, when I got there they said I had to book the car in so that they could inspect it and identify the part and they would charge me half an hour labour for doing so even though I had the part in my hand. They couldn't book me in today so now I have to wait until Tuesday before they can look at it and charge for telling me which part I need to buy from them.

You seem like the perfect customer!
I hope you don't get a puncture on the way there.

Hey, who said I want to pay them? Unless I can provide them with part numbers, they can't supply me with the parts.
I had a look under the car this afternoon and can see where the 2 wires have broken off. . It's part of a loom that runs under the chassis and the connector the wires plug into is on a unit held on by three bolts. It also has a rubber pipe going to it and another connector with about 4 wires going into it.I soldered the wires onto the connectors, but one of the pins it connect to is snapped off. I undid the 3 bolts but the thing still wouldn't budge because part of the assembly goes into another part of the car pretty much the same way a starter motor inserts into the part it's bolted onto (as you can tell I'm no mechanic).
Now the main dealer says they won't look at it as their mechanics aren't trained to repair Surfs (I thought the parts were the same as 4 Runners).
So I've now booked it into a 4WD specialist for Monday morning to see if he can get the parts fo me.Last edited by ant; 9 January 2010, 18:17.

Contact Lord Lucan or Stormforce on this forum and get one off a breaker - there's no need to pay people to replace something when you know whats broke and where it is. From what you have posted already I'm sure you're capable of doing it yourself..
