  • oil level warning light

Hi to everyone, and thanks for the access.
I've just bought a 3.0.TD four runnner, and the orange oil level warning light goes out initialy on start up, then comes back on and stays lit. I've treated it to new oil at the correct level, but no joy. A scientific (not) examination of the duct tape used to cover the light suggests that its been like this a fair while! All ideas welcome, and a can of stella is offered as a prize for the best answer.

Sounds electrical. Do you have an oil pressure guage in a 4runner ?
If you have reasonable oil pressure, suspect the sender... Wherever that is
    Non intercooled nothing.

There is no oil level warning light, that I remember. Are you sure you're not referring to the indicator for the auto box overheat?

Not sure the 4 runner the same but my handbook shows one far left.

Didn't even know it was there.......never seen it light when switching ignition on...

Could be faulty switch, i once had triumph 1500 with same problem so drove to nearest services and
phoned AA he came out and connected oil pressure gauge and said it was fine just buggered sender
fitted spare he had and it cost me a £10. Was 25 years ago tho.....

Should be 4.3psi or more at idle rising to 33psi at 3000rpm

          Remember arrows are silent.....................
Don't forget to tell everyone its indestructable as seen on top gear.......
