  • Fitting a CB Radio

    Hi,

I have a Surf SSRG 3rd Gen 1996 and have just got interested in CB's after a bit of a revival seems to be happening!! This has raised a few questions when thinking of fitting it in the dash and I wonder if anyone can help.

Firstly, How do the 2 batteries work? Sorry, to ask a stupid question, but are they used one at a time or are they drawn on simultaneously?

Secondly, I've been told the best way to fit a CB is direct to the battery, BUT again there are 2!!!!! Does it make a difference, does anyone know?

And any other tips, from anyone who has a rig wired in, would be great!!

    Thanks

I used to have the CB wired to 1 battery and my Ham radio to the other...

Make sure the CB fuse is as close to the battery as possible!

Thank you guys for the welcome and all your help.

The pictures were great, to see different set ups, has given me some ideas!! At least I know I'm safe with the battery and thanks for the fuse tip!!

One other thing, I was going for a Sirio aerial and I've been told the best way to fix it is using a mag mount centrally on the roof, what do you guys think, as I know there are other fittings out there??

                Thanks Again

Andy it's just to nice..... I have put the tissues aside now...

as for the magmount... don't... I don't like them, no ground and can come off specially with a big aerial like the sirio...
With a sirio this mount will be your best bet me thinks....
This is my Sirio on the mount

u can get them for about £12 and the cable for about the same from www.uk4x4centre.co.uk
It's a bootlip mount but goes well on the bonnet...
