  • Electic Short maybe HELP

I know that when you turn the car on you then wait for the tone before Ignition and the "Fuel water Filter, Timing belt, Battery, A/T oil temp" light up, well today they came on when i was driving and the revs were below 2500rpm with the tone as the revs passed this they would flicker and all go out plus the tone would stop.

Any ideas, i know that its driving find and everything is working as i you would expect, it starts fine and so on.
    ????????????????

did All the lights come on, if so your alternator on its way out, this would explain why it all came back to normal when you put the revs up. Get a multi meter and check to see if the alternator is charging its worth checking the belts as well make sure they are tight. Hope this helps

with the car off the batteries are at 12.44v and 12.43v
with the car idling at 800rmp its now 12.02v
i haven't found a spare foot to check it at 1800rpm yet
but at least i have an idea what i need to be looking to buy asap

Use the idle-up switch, that will raise the revs enough to lift the volts to ~14.4v - from a healthy charging system.

.....or just turn the throttle mechanism by hand.

                i didnt think about that,

anyway with the throttle up at High idle and at 1800rpm its still to low so i know what the problem is now i will have to get a newer working alternator.

thank you all for you help.
