speedo sensor

hi all
still need a bit of help,speedo not working ,think it could be the sensor on the side of the gearbox ,does anyone know witch one sends the signal to the speedo, and also is there a easy way of testing the sensor ?

I got a speedo sensor here that was taken out of a truck for someone else but they never got back to me for it.
