Does this mean my alternator is goosed then ?
12.55V is low so it could well be providing all connections are ok and you did the test correctly.

seriously tho,why would u go there,i always say to people look at the garage filled with spotty teenagers,u trust them with yr life?cause thats wot your doing when u let him do your brakes and tyres, seriously ive picked up cars they have worked on,ie an omega they put 4 tyres on......completly the wrong size so the guy had 2 blow outs on a motorway,a saxo..they put wrong brake shoes on,one rear wheel locked at 70 mph, plus countless ones where they havent done wheel nuts up

let me be clear here as I dont want to be labelled a Kwit Fit user ... I do have a mate that does all my mechanical work, but he said just find out what is wrong batteries or alternator and he would fit a new one if I needed it.

Believe it or not Kwik Fit battery prices were very competative hence I just said ok I will get them here and that will be the end of it. It was only afterwards approx 3 weeks later when the New Batteries died that I knew something was not right and in all likelyhood I had bought batteries rather than the alternator that was really needed.

I never use Kwik Fit for the reasons already stated but since it was simply new batteries I relented as the price was good and it was local.

I never use a garage unless its a service all other work my mate does.

This episode has just rubber stamped what I already knew and thought of Kwik Fit I let my gaurd down what can I say ...I was a fool I know.

he was up north fishing spoke to him on the phone and he said more than likely battery or alternator just get it checked local and find out..........seemed simple enough at the time to just get a free check , in hindsight however I should have double checked the shit fitters

Battery Prices were £170 for pair.
Spec on battery's are 650cca 75a/h 130 Rec Dimension wise they were a good fit and strapped down no problem.

They have the charge indicators built in as well which is a handy feature for some.

i could of sent it parcelforce 24 but i went with royalmail which was a bit dearer but like i said thats outa my pocket
I have put the brackets in also as the alternator will be a sod to line up in the bracket so when it comes to take yours out you will see what exactly needs to be taken off.
