  • Speeding up the rear window!!

It appears that the rear window on these beasts is thier archillies heel...well other than the heads going pop
After extensive reading here and on the Aussie site it would seem that a common theme is the window seals in the tailgate itself.

So I came up with own really quick solution
The tailgate has a seal on the outside AND on the inside!!
How much water goes down the tailgate from the inside????
Quick solution: REMOVE INSIDE WINDOW SEAL!!!!
That is it.... not remove and trim.....not remove and clean.......just remove it and have a beer
The window goes up nice and fast now, no rubbing on the tailgate and no rattles when driving.
I am happy now....off to have a beer

But doesn't the inner seal help to hold the glass snugly against the outer one to help make the outer seal work effectively??

      My thoughts

Yep my thoughts are the same, thought the inner seal would keep it flush and sealed!?
Wet weather will be the real judge of that one!

When its up. its snug in the seal around the window opening, should'nt be a problem. The weather seals arn't water tight, thats why the mech gets all dirty from road dirt and needs cleaning alot. The window is quite quick when lubed and seals clean, window tint is bad news if the seals are tight, its not as slippery as plain glass when old.

Would have though it might rattle when down though? its only held at the bottem.

          Good idea though.

            AUSTRALIA ????
Do you not know the difference between that place and N.Z
Anyway it is a little dodgy, but that's me

Tried the hose on it and no water got in so far
I am happy with the fast window, and for tonyN, I do not drive about with the back window down much so I have yet to hear a rattle

OH NO, now we've gone and done it.

Just kidding, overheard one of those type of discussions at work between a slightly less than intelligent colleague and a Kiwi - It wasn't pretty I can tell you.

One thing that I have found that helps is to put Rainx on the glass, it makes it more slippery.

              Cheers

sorry, just to bring this back OT, i used silicone spray lube on the seals around my rear window and it's much quicker going up and down now... silicone lube is great stuff for seals, it makes them water repellant, softer and reduces friction
