The universal cubby I had had holes that the tabs on the mounting brackets fitted into.

do they? oh right. the ones in halfords lookedlike they didnt? ohwell regardless, i can get 2 out of 4 screw on each side in anyway so that will be enough to bolt it back into the car even in the cubby hole i buy doesnt have the holes you mentioned.

cheers for that Rob. i was just looking at that single din this morning funnily enough.
as for the second one, that looks much better! cheers for that mate.
im going to drive round a few car audio shops near by to see if they have anything on the shelf for jap cars. rather something right away as opposed to waiting days for it to arrive in the post from ebay and leaving my dash exposed.

There are alright but i'm looking for one that I can connect to a computer to use the touchscreen as an input device through USB. At first glance (i'm only starting to look into this now) most of the ones on the web just use the touchscreen to control the features built in to the stereo (Radio, DVD etc.) which isn't quite what i'm looking for.

I've been looking at touch screen to update mini laptop into satnat type system.

the one i just bought does have a USB connection on the front if that helps?
