  • fitting a new radio/CD player, speakers etc and an aerial q.

    Hey guys

Hope you can help me and my q's aren't too blonde Have spent hours surfing the forum and has answered some of my q's, but still got a few left.

Fed up with radio 2 and the fact I cant turn it up loud enough to hear without making the plastic panels rattle! Think I have decided on a new CD player and some 10cm 3-way speakers.

Believe I also need an ISO lead and also some kind of adapter to go between radio and aerial?

This is the ISO lead I found - couldn't find Hilux Surf as an option, but the 4-runner in the right year was on there - will this work?

I've found these on a website - can someone tell me if I'm looking at the right things and what the difference is between them all?!?

Also, my aerial appears to be knackered - it's bent and doesn't go up and down. When I turn the ignition off I can hear something whirring for a bit - I presume it's the aerial motor trying to retract the aerial. Do I just need to buy a new aerial (if so, where from?) or do I need anything else as well?

Here's the pinout for the original harness to the ISO, got my ISO from halfords
which surprised me at the time, you can get a new aeriel from roughtrax and i belive there a replacement mast & linkage thing on the forum shop, i belive roughtrax also do a small "rubber duck" aeriel to replace the bl00dy pest of an electric one,

      thanks

that PDF file means bog all to my totally non-technical brain though. give me an animal and ask me to take it apart and put it back together then i'm fine, but cars - no chance! TonyN's gonna fit the thing for me as I dont fancy taking the car apart by myself - just need to know if the ISO thingie that i linked to above is the right one?

thanks for the link for the new aerial though - hopefully the motor still works fine and i just need a new aerial or it looks like it might be quite expensive!

The ISO adaptor certainly looks like the right one. I used a similar one to fit my Sony head unit and it went straight in,
The other adaptors that you've listed are just for aerials and you shouldn't need one at all. Loads of high street places have them if you need one in a rush on the day.

ok - cheers. the website seemed to suggest i'd need one if replacing the standard head unit on the stereo, but if i dont then that's cool.
