I opted for the e-bay version, two key fobs, with key blanks, unlocks the doors and locks them, no problem, also has facility to open the back window through a timer.
The only thing to remember is the surf is negative switching so you will need a couple of relays.
Took me about an hour to fit.Roy

I fitted one of these alarms. Locks the doors and has loads of other features as well. I thought it was a bargain.

hi
I got one of the kits off ebay too. 2 remotes, all the solenoids, etc. Only nedded the remotes.
Added the relays as per the previous to make it negative switching, and used only the black box and the remotes. Got 4 spare solenoids for...er...well something that may or may not require solenoids in the future :-)
Easy fit, found an 'unused' plug and loom beneath the drivers seat and soldered the connections on there. doddle.
Happy as Larry (who I think also has a 2.4)

Negative switching is also known as active low. In other words you apply an earth to activate. A lot of kits (the one I got for Vicki) have active high AND active low options. Mine only had active high so I did need to use relays to sort it.Cutting steps in the roof of the world

FAO Tiger
Hi Tiger, i'm sorry to crash your Central Locking thread, but another member said you might have a Power Steering pump available for me from your 3.0L V6 4Runner.
Could you please either reply to this or drop me an email at jamie[at]aylesworth-fleming.co.uk
I will greatly appreciate it.
Thank you

not a scooby, but sounds fairly doable to me. Can't be much more to it than - find the central locking module and trace the extra bits attached to that, mark up the wires, cut it all out swap it over and splice the wires all back in.=========
