If its anything like most toyota's you can remove the tank and on the top of it will be the fuel sender unit, this can be removed and cleaned, they tend to oxidise with all the fuel and causes a poor electrical connection.Originally posted by Larcen View Post

(only fond this out when we filled a car with 20litres of fuel whilst testing the fuel fill equipment, Toyota QA where not happy, they had to drain out the tank and start again)

I've always run all my vehicles untill the fuel light comes on, that's what it's there for, but if the bulb is gone, you have two choices, fix it or keep it topped up.
Although my fuel guage is a pathelogical liar, the fuel light comes on with about 10 litres left, as I've teted it by running it to empty.Rob
