      Transmitter battery: 23A (supplied - replacement JG91Y)
      Operating frequency: 433.92MHz
      Receiver supply voltage: 12Vdc
Receiver current: 6mA (standby), 66mA (switching)
      Two relay outputs rated at: 12A peak / 5A continuous @ 230Vac

I WAS LOOKING AT THE RECEIVER VOLTAGE 12Vdc IS THIS NOT NORMAL 12V

      IF NOT IF I FIND A 2 CHANNEL (1 FOR UP 1 FOR DOWN ?) 12V VERSION
      http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=002
WILL IT WORK ANY IDEAS ON FITTING

      THANKS JON

Yes this can be used on the surf as it is powered by 12volt dc. the only problem you may have are:-

The contacts are ac rated and not DC,

The relays switch momentarily when the transmitter button is pressed, you may find that the window will start to come down then stop until you take your finger off, then press again and keep going like this, or if you press the button the relay may stay energized untill you release your finger.

Untill you try it you will not know for sure.

Have a look at this http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...48559&doy=21m4

Yours seems to have a dodgy caps lock button...
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

Looks like it'll work. The switching supply is 12vdc, exactly what you've got. The relays are rated for 2.7kw at 230vac. That's more than enough to power a window up & down. The spec also says it's switchable between momentary & on/off, sounds like a good gadget!

You could take a seperate supply for the window but I would be inclined to loop the relay across the existing power supply i.e. think of the relay as a switch, you're just connecting another switch into the existing circuit.

Hope this is clear to you. If it is maybe you could explain it to me

Remember that the rear window is switched negative, to get round this I ended up using relays to convert the switched live from the remote unit into switched negative for the window relay.
This is however an extremly useful mod.

The only problem with the on/off setting is that the relay will be permanantly energized up or down unless there is a timer on it to shut it off after, say 30 seconds. this may then conflict with the manual switch in the cab or the rear window key.

This is the control unit I got (although it wasn't that expensive two years ago)

To be honest with you I can't remember how I wired the relays to convert positve switched to negative switched, and they are now buried behind panels and loads of wiring. To make it worse I didn't write anything down just made it up until it worked!!!! I think if you put negative into the positive input and ground, switched live into the switched input, you end up with switched negative on the switched output.

I also wired direct to the rear window relay, using Codlords guide.

I believe that this thread has details of how to convert positive to negative switching, unfortunatley I'm at work so don't know if the lack of pictures is due to the silly firewall they have.

I bought an alarm from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/durham-parking-sensors
This has a wire for winding windows up and a wire for unlocking a boot. With some timers and relays this could be modified quite easily to use the boot opening wire to wind the window down and then wind it back up by rearming the alarm. The power window function only has one output wire and would need to turn the ignition on and operate five switches to wind all the windows up, but could be used to wind up the boot window quite easily with a relay. It runs for 25 seconds which should be enough. The boot opening function would need a timer as that only operates quickly designed for central locking. RS components do 12 volt relay timers for about £30 but there may be cheaper less elaborate ones available. If the system is wired to the keyswitch then the ignition would not be needed.

There are loads of features on it too including a remote start although I don't think it would work on a diesel as I don't see how it waits for the glow plugs. I've not connected the remote start relays up, but might have a go at the remote start and rear window switch. The central locking is working. There is an immobiliser too which I've not yet connected. It's supposed to be connected to the starter, but the starter is easy to hotwire. I was thinking of breaking the gearbox selector wires so it can be started but would not go into gear, what theif would try to get around that by pulling wires out and shorting them?

                            It was 25.98 plus 7.99 p&p.
