Earth Points

Can anyone tell me (pictures would be nice too) the locations of all the main body, chassis, engine and gearbox earthing points?

I've still got a couple of electrical problems and I'm pretty sure they're earth related. But without guidance, I can't check all my earths are in the correct place or even there at all.

I'm off work most of next week and I'm going to try to put the electrical issues to bed once and for all!

off the top of me head theres earths at both A pillar's, one at the near side rear quarter next to relay box, one near side front behind head lamp area, got some wiring diagrams here will have look through em if you dont get sorted.

Just make sure every major part is well grounded. You should have straps to the block and gearbox at absolute minimum, but adding a few more definitely won't hurt.

I only have one strap from the R/H battery to the alternator, no more. No chassis earths at all and nothing to the gearbox.

Somewhere, on the Oz site I think, I read that the earths have to be in the right places to work properly. Apparently extra earths don't work if the originals are missing, can't understand why though.

It's bunkum. A ground is a ground. Placement is irrelevant, provided they are all bonded/connected well. The only way it could make a difference having one to a certain spot is if that section is isolated from the rest of the chassis/bodywork.

Edit: There is the fact that not having the original straps in place may mean the grounding isn't sufficent to cope too, btw, but that could be sorted by merely making sure that any new grounds added are substantial enough to cope with requirements.
