  • A question about Keyless Entry

Hi guys, been computerless for a while but all sorted and paid up again.

A couple of questions for my learned friends in here (ok pretend at least )

I want to fit Remote central locking to my Surf and am looking at this particular set on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FOB-Keyless-En...ayphotohosting

Before I buy it can anyone tell me if they have used this particular model before and if it proved reliable etc.

I see there is plenty of instructions on here so that side looks great, I have one of my cousins who is good at this kind of stuff coming up in April so I want to get one ready for him so he has something to do on his holidays up here in scotland

One more wee question about the small fob for the Imobiliser, where and how would I go about getting a spare as only having one concerns me a bit ?

    Thanks in advance

also ..lol ...bull bars off or on what ye reckon its been buggin me of late whether to remove mine or leave on.

The ad says there are two remote fobs included. If you lose both, the central locking will still work from the standard key.

Bullbars off, then sell them to pay for new rear springs and shocks. (Saggy arse!)

lmao @ the rear springs idea, hmm one has one thinking.

the fob I am referring to is the little black stick that is used to turn off the immobilizer before the Key will work. I am assuming that even with keyless entry fitted I will still need to use this as normal (eg) hold against pin til red light stops flashing?

Its that little black fob I am referring to getting a spare for not the actual fobs for the central locking. With me ?

Ah right, you mean the transponder, or touch key as they are sometimes called. You'll need to find out the serial number or manufactures name on the immobiliser to get a replacement I would have thought.

Yes, you will still need to use it to immobilise the immobiliser!

aye the transponder thats what I said ........in a kind of dumb ass long winded (cough) roundabout sort of way

I will set the task upon my cousin as he is fitting the remote system to get me the serial number etc

Meantime I will ponder the BullBar dilemma

post a pic of your transponder and we'll probably be able to identify it between us.

Bars on unless you wanna sell em to someone dirt cheap.

looked like an old selca key at first glance but i think it's actually one of these, http://www.ncs-systems.com/prod/675 - the selca ones were a bit flatter and the ends were more ovalled.
