Today i removed the dash of my 3.0 surf to have a look at the rear of the clocks for damage , this is after i had checked the gearbox for loose connections , after a closer look i could find no visible signs of burnt or damaged tracks on the printed circuits, which led me to think it could be the kph to mph convertor, to prove this i disconnected it and rejoined all the wires the way they should be , i then re-fitted the clocks and hey presto the speedo works again, the bonus point to this is that it also stopped the overdrive light from flashing on the clocks , the light still works as normal but the annoying flash has gone , the clocks are working in kph, but they are working, going to get some tippex and put a small dot where 30 50 60 and70 mph is and that will do for me

Hi,
Where was the speedo converter chip? I`ve had a look once before but couldn`t see any little black boxes behind the clocks. I`ve got the flashing O/D light and no speedo symptons. I`ve also checked the gearbox sensor near the front of the rear prop-shaft. Now I`m thinking it`s this speed converter or the speedo clock itself.
cheers,

it was the speed converter on mine , it was attached to the wiring harness that is behind the clocks[or it was on mine ] i just removed this rejoined the wires [colour to colour], this fixed the speedo and stopped the overdrive light from flashing, granted the speedo reads in kph , but i have ordered a new clock face off ebay [mph] it will still clock the distance in kph but with the face it will read in mph--hope this helps---Karlanyone seen the plot
