  • Rear window

    Hello everyone,

Help, on the way to work this morning the rear lock light appeared on the dash. I stopped lowered the window, opened the tailgate, shut it back up, pushed the lock button down, raised the window but it only went up three quarters and an alarm kept sounding everytime I press the window button.
I managed to raise the window by pulling up the glass as someone else pressed the up button. I lowered the window slightly to test it, it went down but would not rise back up. The red rear window/lock light stays on ever so dim now, not fully lit up. Any ideas as to what it might be? Knowing My luck it is something mucking expensive.

Could be something caught in the tailgate, stopping it from being cleanly shut?
I know mines done similar, and I've had to get out and give the back tail gate a good SLAM which always sorts it for me.....

Have you tried raising the window with the key?

            Hi,

Took the panel off the tailgate last night, cleaned and lubricated the rubber window guides with silicone. Lubricated the metal runners that attach to the glass, also greased the toothed half moon (times 3 of them). Cleaned and lubed the little contact switches. Anyway the window flies up and down now and the dash light is off. Hope that is it for now.

Now I will have to do the steering stops, grease them I mean they are making a noise whilst on full lock.

Forgot that, will do it when I get under there tomorrow. Need to do it early so as to get ready to watch Wales beat England in the rain ( well I hope so anyway)
