Central Locking

I'm just trying to work through a central locking problem. The solenoid in the drivers door isnt working. Ive stripped the solenoid from the door hopeing the solenoid was faulty for an easy ish fix and wishing it was'nt due to cost! The solenoid unfortunately works (or fortunately) when tested from a direct feed so I can only assume there is a fault in the wireing. Has any one else come across this fault before? where might the problem be?

hi andy ingers here i am an auto electrician if u explain your prob further ill try to help you after a surf myself not got one yet but to be honest apart from rear window we havnt had many probs although i did have a brocken wire in drivers harness where it goes into door not knowing your fault this may be vague this was on one of rear windows in fact there was 3 wires bust you can unplug harness in kick panel then pull loom through so u can have a look

Thanks Ingers, I noticed this was you first post after joining the forum. Dont be scared, theres a lot of good friendly people on the site most will give any help if they can. I also are city & guilds auto electrician taken 15 years ago but havent done much since. Thanks to your pointer towards checking the harness, I'll check that next. Sometimes you could get a post back from someone directing you straight to a common fault, "the widgets fallen out of that" or "the flux capacitor needs re-alignment"
