fitted an alarm now windows wont work?

Help, got a cobra alarm/immobiliser fitted today, just discovered the rear window wont drop so I cant access the rear also the near side window wont drop? drivers side ok? think perhaps a fuse? but why just the two? and not all? anyone help? oh and yes were is the fuse box for the windows? also how do you get the rear door open if you cant drop the window/

Hey no worries, I think most of us have fallen for that one at sometime or other. Wait till you can't get it to start at the supermarket, and just as you're about to call the RAC you ralise the gear stick's not in the 'P' position!!!

Immobiliser

I once had a problem starting an old Cortina. I usually look after my cars really well so I was annoyed when it didn't start. It didn't even turn over. So I pushed it down the drive (at great effort) and tried to jump it with my other car (a Capri - am I sophisticated or wot?). Still nothing - not even turning over. After scratching my head for a while, cleaning the distributer, each lead, removed the sparkplugs and cleaned them - I reached for my keys in the cubby-hole where I threw them earlier that morning - and my finger tip touched the immobiliser switch.

One turn of the ignition later, and the old tart was running just fine.

Perhaps we should keep stories like this together in one thread, along with the lad who couldn't get the key out of the ignition (cos it was in Park) and Mrs Spratt's dual mast fiery wheels.

Oh and I also remember a mate who had a squeal from the front end of his mk1 Cavalier. After taking the gearbox out (on his own!) and changing the clutch he re-assembled the car and called his mate over to listen. The first thing his mate said was something along the lines of 'Lets tighten the fan belt first cos you'll never hear any transmission noise over that thing squealing!!'

I've posted this before but it's a good lesson . I got caught out with that one after fitting my remote door locking. Took me 2 days to find out about the button on the door, however I had taken half the interior apart, traced wires, run in new cables for the rear window motor, all to no avail until I accidently leant on the button and enabled the rear window again.

I did the locking thing last month. to my horror, just as I was about to start flapping the WIFE said 'have you tried that button thing on the arm rest'

Still trying to live it down..
