Hi,
Hi, Steve here, a newbee who lives in Swindon, Wilts. I picked up my 2.4 surf the other week & since then have been "playing" & have fitted a 110 AH leisure battery, split charge relay, voltmeter, etc, with 125A feed direct to a S socket at the back, ready to run a 1200 Watt inverter I've got to run small power tools off, etc. I've also fitted ciggy lighters off the leisure battery inside, & wired in a Laptop adaptor , phone charger, etc. Also fitted my towbar kit with dual wiring, ready to wire up.
All was going well until lunch today, when I could not resist going out for a play with it on the drive. I "tidied up" my wiring, fitted insulated covers on the battery, etc. To my horror, when I started her up, there was nothing at all in the way of juice comming through, key just turned but no power.
I have isolated all my new wiring & the battery, checked all the fuses I could find (engine bay next to starter battery, drivers side by the door) & all are OK.
Battery is giving out nearly 13 volts, so should be good to start it.
Also, it will not let me remove the key from the ignition unless I disconnect the battery & the back window will not go back up.
This leads me to believe the beast might be fitted with an immobiliser .
I then tried pulling battery earth off for 5 minutes, taking the key out, putting battery back on, locking the car, unlocking & putting the key in the ingition. It still does not want to play.
So, do we have an immobiliser fitted on 'em ? Any other fuses to check for? Any other ideas?
How do I immobilise the immobiliser (if there is such a beast) Where is it?
Failing that, anyone know how to short the starter cables to the ignition or what the wires to it do so I can test ?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Steve.
