there are two ways of changing the lamp - niether of which is quick.
method one involves removing the front grill assembly / indicator unit and finally unbolting headlamp to remove completely - then swapping bulb.

method two requires removing battery and washer bottle / rad expansion bottle ( depending on which side is out), the replacing lamp from rear of lamp unit.

both methods take the same amount of time and both have pro's and con's.
Having done both numerous times - I now prefer going in from the rear (steady!!!!) as this saves dropping/snapping those fiddley grill clips.

It would be probably worth your while to change both lamps with new and keeping the one good old one as an emergency spare.

Also make sure you don not touch the glass part of the lamp. and clean them before installing with meths / isopropanol / circuit board cleaner.

    hope this helps.

some people say its easier and quicker to take the front grill off and do it that way and others say to move the battery out the way.I've never had to do mine yet so i couldnt say which is easier/quicker.If you take the grill off you will have to be carefull of the the plastic clips as they can snap.Hope this is of some help
If it were me i think i would move the battery out the way

I've replaced the bulbs in Hippo, the back way is easier by far.

If you are going to replace the standard bulbs go for the Halfrauds 50% brighter ones. The Surf's lights are pretty $$$$ as standard and these do help with better light output without having to resort to upgrading the wiring loom to take higher output bulbs.

The easyest way (and good for a laugh), is take it to Halfords and use their fit it service.
