  • Headlight Bulbs

I always wondered why oncoming cars often flash their lights at me. I thought my lights were just out of alignment but then I looked into it a bit further...
Took the bulbs out yesterday (which I can do without taking the batteries out) to see what they were. They should be H4 60/55W but I found I pair of PIAA Super Whites H4 80/80W. Went to PIAA's website to find out the specs on them:

    H4 80/80 = 135/115W, SINGLE, £37.00ex VAT

    Damn bright and damn expensive!!

Had the surf for 8 months now and I'm still getting some nice surprises

how do you gat at them without taking the battery out?
i've never had a good look but it looks at a glance that i'd have to move the battery one side and expansion bottle the other!
do they swing from the front like a truck light?

A mate changed a bulb for me without removing the battery. Came to MOT time a few months later, headlight beam incorrect.....the cause, bulb not fitted properly. In the summer I changed both bulbs, removing the batteries to do it. Made the job much easier, and only took 30 mins to do both.

it's a pain in the ass if a lamp goes in the dark though!

Very easily. Right hand side, simply pull off connector at the back, remove water seal, release retaining clip and out comes the bulb.
The left hand side is the same but there's a black plastic cover between the coolant bottle and the wing which has a single bolt/screw at the top, need to remove this first. Not sure if there's supposed to be a cover on the other side but I haven't got it if there is.
