  • Blown fuse twice!

Today I noticed the clock had gone off and the radio although I never listen to it and had not got around to switching it off, it was fitted a couple of years ago or so the bill says.
The beast has done about 200 miles since I collected it last week.
Its fuse # 3, 15A and protects the accessories and also the front side lights which I find odd.
I replaced it and it ruptured immediately. When the driver door is opened I now get a continuous audible warning until I lock it.
The only thing I have done is drill the back seats for a boot cover and I can’t believe that would be internally wired.

Question ; anyone have any ideas as to what it might be otherwise its going to take a while disconnecting everything one at a time and I imagine it will be a pain to do this.
I do have a multi meter and used to be an electrical engineer back when Le Clanche was just a boy so I have a bit of a clue on electrics.

Unrelated subject and so you can have a laugh ,I was a stupid ***** looked for the Jack and tools when I got it home and no they were not in the cubby hole in the boot so I brought shiny new ones and then yesterday the hand book arrived and guess what they were under the rear seat and never been used. Yeh go on then laugh.

I don't know when you ordered your new jack, but if you had done a search on JACK on this forum you would have found the information from several members. Look at this link.

I now know that if I need to know anything I just got to ask you guys or search in the future. I guess I was a jackass not searching first.

Hello mate, check the multi plug on the control panel on the drivers door, this does the mirrors, if the connector is loose then it will blow the fuse.

              hiya.

Might be an idea to check you haven't got any water in your side lights....... Also check the wiring connections under the wheel arches. sounds like you have got a short out on thne earth and it's back feeding through the circuit through the buzzer.

              good luck.

PS you haven't changed any bulbs recently?

Thanks to all for your helpful advice, it was the wiring to the cigarette lighter.
I had a good day on the beast and it all seems totally puka. Lots of new bits coolant oil ait filter and the grease points and doors have all been done recently. I have it booked into Nene Overland for a good service and check over but I think I have got a really decent truck.
In a couple of weeks I’m going to drive it down to southern Spain via the pecos so I will have the opportunity to give it a decent trial.
                Anyone want a lift?
