Low fuel light always on

Asking this one on behalf of another Surfer- his low fuel indicator is always on even if the tank is full. The gauge works fine.

Is this just a faulty sensor or does this light being on signify some other condition (eg water in the sedimentor)?

I had a similar problem last year, but my gauge was reading full all the time aswell.

Mine turned out to be some melted through cables, caused by a bodged exhaust repair. (hot exhaust gases!). The heat also took out the fuse for the suspension.

The fuel light and the gauge do have different wires, so my guess would be a dodgy connection on top of the tank, or possibly a cut wire.
