Light switch

Stupid question, but my Surf has a round switch on top of dash by pillar drivers side. Only appears to work when side lights on. I know what it does, but why is it where it is. Is it for a legless driver!!!

Someone obviously likes to do things the hard way, would have been much easier to fit elsewhere. I presume it is the rear fog lamp switch.

Obviously fitted by Mr Homer Simpson me thinks.

Just discovered

Have dicovered that the switch is a light sensor, so sidelights come on automatically when its dark. You can also switch it so headlights come on also. I assume this is an add on.
