Also go to auto store and get some silicon areosol spray and drench all rubber window guides. makes window movement as fast as a guilloteen!!!Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!

Also, have you actually greased the mechanism itself?
Assuming when you say the mechanism your talkin about the four (or is it only 2?) metal runners with wheels that run along in them and hold the bottom of the glass. Or somethin attached to them holds the glass? I'll know what i'm talking about when i take it apart again in the morning but it's too late know and the brains not engaging. But yeah they've been pumped full of grease too.=========

The arms and gears in the tailgate. Literally, grease every part
of the metal mechanism that contacts another part of the mech
in any position. You can get water seeping into the tailgate past
the seal, which allows the metal gears to start binding with each
other. With the runners, the best way to clean those is with cotton
buds. Push the tip into the groove and run them up and down the
groove. You'd be amazed how much cr*p will still come out.

Hi Nero,
I swapped my rear n/s motor for the tailgate as this is the one I use the least,( you may need the n/s front to ask diections or something)
I propped the window up with a piece of wood (2"x 1") about 18" long until I got a replacement on e-bay for about £35.00.
All fitted and working now.Rob
Still working for the man!

Finally got round to doing it today, used a motor from j reg celica drivers (yes drivers) door. Had to mount the motor the wrong way round, but it now works better than i've ever seen it. 3-4 seconds each way, and smooth other than the top half inch where the window hasn't made it that far up for the last 9 months.=========
