Hand brake light keeps coming on

Hi guys,
just recently bought my auto 3.0td 94 reg surf... when I start to drive, my handbrake light comes on for a minute of two, usually goes away if I feather the brakes, it seems to come on as its going through gears 2,3. Now my hand brake is definitely not on, any ideas?? Its doing my head in ;-0

You're either low on brake fluid, or the float switch is sticking in the fluid reservoir.

Yep

deffo either low on brake fluid or, more likely, the plunger on the amster cylinder has stuck.

Just unscrew the top to either add brake fluid - if it keeps dropping you will have to have a good look at the brakes or just give the plunger a wiggle with your fingers, screw it back on and Bob's married to yuor aunt!!
