  • Blower bother

Yet another question for the experts!

My heater blower isn't working at all on any setting. I've removed all the panels and have checked here for the same problems, so I found the resistor which was the ceramic type, bolted into the bulkhead underneath the blower motor. As far as I can tell there is no problem with it though and in fact there is no power getting to it. When I flick the slider through the blower settings I can hear the relay clicking so I was thinking that means the control is OK and that somewhere either a fuse has blown or there is a problem with the relay or wiring.

Anyone able to shed any more light on this at all? There's a lot of wires under there!! AND can anyone tell me where to find the buzzer which comes on with the ignition as it's driving me MAD

    Cheers!

Well I've managed to fix it. There was a couple of relays together with the fuse for the blower, mounted on a plastic housing which was bolted to the passenger side front left bulkhead. The blower relay is the closest to the door and comes off fairly easily once the plastic housing has been unbolted. The cover can then be prised off the relay and I then cleaned up the contacts with some v.v.fine wet and dry. Plugged the whole lot in and it seems to work fine. This isn't the only relay that has needed this sort of attention, my horn relay needed the same treatment.

When relays eventually need replacing can they be bought over the counter from Toyota?
