  • CLEAR REAR LIGHT CLUSTER and BULBS

Thought I would treat my Surf to an uplift so I bought a set of RoughTrax clear front and rear light clusters. Absolutely superb value, really look the biz and only took ten minutes to fit and made the Surf look 10 years younger. Jeez I wish I could get a set for myself!!

The clusters come with coloured bulbs which are fine but I have found an excellent LED bulb for the rear/brake lights. Brilliant light and a lot more penetrating than normal bulbs but a fair bit more expensive. Still it was a present for the Surf and me!

You all know RoughTrax but the LEDs come from a very helpful specialist firm called Consumabulbs. Ask for Simon and my guess is that there's not an LED or conventional bulb he can't get. His link is:

    http://www.consumabulbs.com/

Nope and before you ask I ain't related to 'em in any way; just blxxdy good service from both firms.

    Go for it guys.

The front lights look really good, but I'm not a fan of the rear type. To me it looks like the rear lights have been smashed.

                  Here's the details:

The clusters and lenses come from RoughTrax and are:

Rear clear light assembly: LI016 for KZN 185

                  Clear bumper indicators : ACC176A

Clear wing repeaters : ACC 151

I also added some chrome surrounds and a couple of Angel eye clear spots.

RoughTrax web site is : www.toyotahilux.com if you don't know it.

The excellent rear red LEDS ref: 7443 and are from consumabulbs on 0870 042 5714 and ask for Simon. You already have the web site reference above.

Hope that helps you all. Makes the Surf look the Billy Whizz!

                    VMC

Looks very smart & really changes the look.
Mine is exactly the same colour as yours (except I've recently fitted a roofcrate) and nice to see what mine could look like.

Really like your spare wheel cover, where did you get that from - not too bothered about the graphic but the style is well wicked

Anyone know if it's possible to tint red the reflector thats inside the cluster? Not sure how that would look mind you. Adding a reflector defeats the object a bit otherwise though it looks OK. I'm more tempted by Roughtrax's clear/red clusters. I'm definitely getting the clear bumper indicators now, i have too after i won the clear repeaters from Kiowa Highly appreciated but it's opened a can of worms thats going to hit my credit card if I'm not careful

Thanks for that Hawaii and it has received a lot of comments from friends usually 'That looks nice, what the hell is it!'

Yes the wheel cover is excellent. It is in fact one of the original Surf covers which are nearly always smashed or nicked on the way to the UK. Luckily I saw this flung in the back when I bought it and got the dealer to clean it and to repair the damage. Reason being was that they are something of a cult in some countries. This is why...look carefully at the wording on it...some dudes find that way out. Surprsed no one has gone on about it here. Must be because they haven't seen an original. Oh and they pad lock to the wheel. In fact I'll post these pix on the general site and see what they have to say!

Here they are sorry its dirty and dark when I took 'em and you'll have to double click to read the words:

Not sure but be careful about tinting the reflector as the paint will almost certainly burn and turn black won't be reflective and you (well I mean the Surf) could fail the MOT. The tec guys can put us straight on this.

Sorry about your credit card but the red LEDS are absolutely amazing but cost £9 each....hope they blxxdy last!!!

What do you think of the spare wheel cover, eh, cool but vomit to some!

It's not just the MOT thats a worry for having no reflectors. If some fool ran into the back of your surf when it's parked up A, it would make a mess of it, and B they could well sue you for all sorts of damages that no insurance would cover. Well worth being legal these days!

I've ordered a red LED to put a fog light into my off side reversing light bit in the cluster, seems the best solution to that.

I'm well into boats so for me the wheel covers good I don't have one at all at the moment though, boat or wheel cover that is. Got to sort it out
