Heater controls not working- SCORCHIO!

last night on our drive from London to Scotland it all went a bit Scorchio in the car, which is a 97 KZN185.

the heater control stopped working and so we got full heat into the car. Could have been worse and stuck on cold.

before doing doing so, there was a clicking sound, like a relay gone bad. It

When I take the central console off and heater controls out ther is a white plastic cover. Whatever is ticking, is behind that. Any ideas?
