Hi Marky,
I have a 3rd. gen. and it is remote c/l on all doors.
However, I got a Toad alarm fitted for insurance and I use that instead for the c/l and just use the key to start the beast and get the grin.

thanks colin, I'm getting the surf next week but I am ordering the alarm from america. My insurance doesn't require a thatcham approved alarm so I'm going for one made by a company called Oz Audio. http://www.ozaudio.com/nmwi/prod_alarm_jt400s.htm

It's going to cost £130 for the alarm.
