    you are a star... that makes sense. I suppose that every speedo head has a different rest position... so its not x degree's off...

    An alternative might be, moving the natural rest position (unpowered) inline with the dial stop, and then making a note of the difference in the needle travel referenced to a GPS ground speed signal, then moving the needle x degrees difference the other side of the stop is pretty much the same.

    This time you are checking against a GPS instead of any vagueries of the original setting.
    That seems to make sense. Like your suggestion though. If only I hadn't taken the needle mount off.

    I have been out again... and there definitely isn't a bind anywhere, although it does look like I might have pinched the dial face too tight against the double sided tape... I just think this natural rest postion relative to the needle stop is wrong.
