3.4 litre head gasket gone....

So... I bought my fourth hilux. A gen3 with a 5vz-fe engine. Head gasket appeared to have gone so I've now stripped it and lo and behold there is a tell tale rusty channel between the water jacket and cylinder. Looked around for a gasket set but couldnt find one for less than £200 in thd uk. Ebay came to the rescue though! As the engine is popular in the US and oz I had a good look and found sensibly priced

Water pump
Tensioner
Full head gasket set including bolts
Tensioner pulley
Idler pulley
Thermostat
Cambelt

For under £ delivered including import charges.

So.... I best post some progress reports with pictures...

Yes please. Never seen a 3rd Gen with the 3.4 engine, only 2nd Gens. Must be nice.

Yes please. Never seen a 3rd Gen with the 3.4 engine, only 2nd Gens. Must be nice.

Not very quick at the moment :P... it's very.... stationary LOL

Parts should hopefully arrive next week - just in the process of cleaning everything at the moment - bushwhacker - any advice on what's best to clean stuff with and best paints? I'll have a search through the numerous transplant threads too...

Cleaning up the alternator at the moment but I fancy upgrading it to a higher ampage one - not sure where to start tbh - I guess finding out the fitting standards?

Think there are higher ampage ones used on the landcruisers that will fit
