  • South African that cannot idle

So, i have taken the reins of a newish, old Surf, Loving it to bits,
Its a 3.0v6, petrol. Uh, its blue... got a big ass bullbar on the the front,
around 190k km's on the clock, and still running like a dream.

except, just after her service, she doesnt want to idle properly.
No idea why, it doesnt happen at every stop, but there seems to be no real method behind the madness.

To give you a better idea of what hilux it is, its similar to the blue one above the forum banner, Above the surf.co.uk section

    Ideas?

Could be a number of things such as; plug leads, rotor arm, dizzy cap, coil, fuel filter, dirt/water in fuel, TPS, ISCV, MAF. Vacuum leak.
You haven't given us a lot to go on other than it's had a service, engine type and the colour.

sadly i cannot really give you more info. Im not a car guru

the service was to replace the filters, air, oil and petrol (i think)

i have noticed that it does it more often when im free wheeling ( not using petrol) towards a stop.

one more side question. Anyone know what the part number is for the ignition barrel on the hilux surf? 3.0 ssr g automatic

my car was broken into yesterday and i need to replace it

Look for a loose wire somewhere, especially around whatever filters were changed during the service.

If it's an inline fuel filter, make sure that the hoses are tight on the filter.

Dang it! Thought I would be the only Surf owner in SA when I ship my 3rd gen home to Cape Town next year. Are there many Surfs on the road 'back home' Marbro?

My dad was looking for a Surf in Joey's but had no luck. He has now settled on the brand new Hilux double cab (not too bad as a second choice!!!)
