  • Biodiesel

This is my first time on this site and i need a question answering please.
I now own my first SSRX Limited 3 litre Hilux Surf, year of manufacturer 1994 and i think its a good all round vehicle for my needs. But its a bit thirsty and i heard about biodiesel.
Is it good or bad for the car. If anyone has used it, is it ok or should forget all about.

It depends on what vehicle you have. Given that you've posted in the 3.0 V6 PETROL forum, then I would suggest that any form of DIESEL would be a bad move for you.

Cheers, i was not aware i was in the wrong section.
my surf is a v4 3ltr auto diesel and i love the truck, but if i can save on the fuel cost i was thinking of biodiesel but unsure what it might do to it.
      thanks.

OK, a 3.0ltr 2nd Gen Diesel will be fine on a Veg Oil/Diesel mix. Do a search as there are many many postings covering this.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

Use straight vegetable oil from your local shop tesco, asda or the like. Its 30 - 40p cheaper than derv, and you just increase the mix until it starts to get grumpy, most people are getting on ok with 50% derv to 50% veg oil. Try it out with say 10% and work your way up. e.g 9 litres derv to 1 liter veg.
Then 8 litres derv to 2 litres veg oil

Youll prob find that 5 - 5 litres will be your lot in winter but higher ratios are poss in summer, this represents a lardge saving and there is no duty to be paid anymore up to 2500 litres per year

Nope, pretty sure that you can't use Lard.

Ah point noted although i did use old engine oil filtered once and that worked ok. As a disclaimer it was less that 3% tyherefore cl;assed as an additive therefore not used as fuel to avoid penalisation

“Biodiesel” wash your mouth out with soap! This section is purely for petrol heads
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

I remember seeing a truck than ran on waste animal fat -- had the meanest fuel & tank heaters ever. Google is not playing at the moment though...
