Rear Main Seal help

I have a really harsh burning smell coming from the driver's side engine compartment. When I'm sitting in traffic I need to open the sunroof to get fresh air into the cab. The smell is akin to burning rubber (or belt). A friend says it is most likely my rear main seal. I am leaking oil badly. Is the diagnosis correct and what will it take to fix. '92 3.0L, Auto, Petrol.

Do you get any smoke? I had a leak from the rocker cover gasket on the driver's side that was dripping on to something hot and making a nasty smell and a bit of smoke that came out of the wheel arch. Seemed bad at the time but wasn't a big deal. What do you mean by leaking oil badly? Like how much? Is it all over the floor?
