  • Hilux 3lt Supra project

Here we go Sunday 4th of November picked up engine

So the plan is to put a 3lt supra non turbo engine in my siezed 3lt surf (with a lot of help from you lot). Ive changed quite a few engines in my time (mk1 escort days) and quite good at fabrication but havent done anything for a while and technology has passed me by somewhat and i don't get a lot of spare time so bare with me this could be a long project. Cheers Pics to follow

so is that a v6 then or a (twin cam?) straight 6? as all the intake valves are on the same side?

Someone explain to me? I know.... er.... not much about engines and only ever seen normal 4 cylinder petrol and diesel lumps, and various rover v8s and truck and bus diesel lumps, whatever they happen to be. And probably seen v6s and stuff i guess at some of the cruises i used to go to, but not really known what i was looking at.

                Best of luck!

Have a look on yotatech and pirate4x4

the straight 6 is an interesting fit into the surf, a little bit too long apparently.

radiator and cooling seems to be the main concern

EDIT - Have a look through some of these threads for info

Thanks all, Apparrently you can overcome the length problem with 2 electric fans instead of the stock fan on the lump and i may have too fabricate a bellhousing, Not sure yet.

I overcome the length problem by wearing a couple of ring doughnuts!
