Hilux Surf bad jerks
Hi everybody
Some of the gas electronics have been disconnected now but left in situ as I might want to buy a tank at some time to convert to gas. The guy had a diagnostic pod which he used on the road. This showed that the Surf was ok when cold (agreed) but had a definate lean spot when it started jerking then rich and shooting forward. This was traced to the AFM which was apparently damaged due to a gas blowback (I've read that Range Rovers suffer from This when gased and it's recommended to have the ducting from the AFM slightly loose to allow for this). The Surf goes to another specialist on Friday for the AFM to be put right (hopefully). The above might be interesting to RUSTY with his V6 problem. Will keep you posted.

This is the reason modern motors with hitech plastic plenium chambers are bad news, like the Ford Exploroer, it granades the whole intake. On normal EFI motors it just blows the air filter box to pieces.4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...

Hilux Surf bad jerks
Hi everyone
Got the surf back after 6 weeks in the garage !!!!!!!!!.
Distributer was faulty so new one installed.
AFM was shot so new one flown in from Japan.
Runs loads better now but I noticed the vaccuum to a small valve (not the EGR) was blocked off so I re-attached it and it ran better - anyone Know what it's for (front right side of engine by distributer). Still has slight hesitation on acceleration........any ideas??????

I hope i havnt made myself look daft and find out that you do not have a distributer with it being injection but if you dont maybe there is something similar going on
check for Play in somekind of moving engine parts
Hope you get to the bottom of itCutting steps in the roof of the world
