  • LPG here we come

Right so after reading all the posts and trying my best to understand what its all about here is what I am thinking of doing?
Buying the kit and tank from www.wtv-uk.co.uk now as far as I can see it seems fairly simple (will obviously give them a call to confirm) but all I need is the V6 kit, the flash lube thing and a tank (please correct me if I am wrong or have missed off anything)
I will probably do the installation then drive the car up to them for the day and watch them check it and do the programing.

Now my first big question is what tank to get I was thinking the biggest Toroidal one possible so thats 95ltr. I think the tank should fit fine but has anyone else gone for such a big tank?

I already have the 20% harder springs but think they might need a little help due to all the extra weight (I am also moving the spare to the back door)

As an extra bit of safety I was then thinking of doing the 2" body lift (and maybe a suspension lift aswell if I can convince the wife)

Any comments or anything I should look out for?
Any help would be great. Thanks

I have no advice whatsoever I'm afraid.

Please keep us updated on how it works out though. As a new member of the petrol club, I might consider going over to LPG if the new truck is as much fun as I think it's going to be and I keep it for a long time

    Thanks.

Remember, there is a big difference in LPG kits. With the basic kits you lose about 30% economy, but with the sequential kits which cost more, the difference should be minor. Sequential means that gas is injectected into each cylinder seperatly, whereas the other method doesn't. Also a big difference is obtained by upraiting the leads, which can only be done if using 7mm or 8mm leads.
I ran an XJ40 3.6 on gas for about 3 years and found it great.

        Cheers phillip,
The kit I am planning to get is sequential, and looks really good, the tank size is more what I am scared of getting wrong.
The biggest tyre stlye tank is 720 mm wide x 765 mm long x 285 mm in depth
which is kind of large, I think it will fit under the car without having to do too much cutting but as that is thicker than a tyre I want to raise the car slightly but then am worried about the saggy arse coming back!!!

Will try to take as many pictures as possible and put a good write up together.

          Silly Tip

One silly tip from someone who has trouble putting a seat cover on, is, if raising the car, or putting much larger wheels on, remember to take a block of wood with you everywhere, as its possible that the Jack which comes with the car, might notraise it as too short.
I suppose all you forum brainboxes already realised this, but maybe their is one other member who is as dim as me re cars.

the spare wheel carrier I am building has a highlift jack on it,
And yes I know that I will need some mounting points for that toooo
(and just another quick on if you do a body lift the axles dont move therefore the jack should still be fine, and one inch on tyres should not make too much difference should it?

i think if you use the standard jack that is in the surf you may not get quite enough lift to take the wheels off but if you carry o block of wood in the boot then it shouldn't make any differance

I've got a 630*250 torodial on mine, fits nice and snug. Theres room for a larger tank but it will stick down a bit further than you might expect as the cross member the spare normaly sits against is slightly arched.

                        Hi,

I have a 95 ltr tank and it fits fine, you don't need a body or suspension lift (unless already sagging). It is virtually invisible and can't be seen unless you get under the car. I have got a sequential BRC system, a real git to set up and get working, but, once working excellent.

                          Hi bazzathorne,
Is there any chance that you can show me where your fuel filer sits for the LPG as that is what I am curently trying to decide.
I.e. did you cut a hole in your bumper or the side of the car or want.
                          Thanks
