Engine error codes

I have a problem when starting from cold. The battery and (what looks like) the cat converter light are coming on for about ten minutes after startup.

I thought the warmer weather might clear it but they still come on when starting from cold.

Thought I might try and see if there is an error code.

Has anyone done this on a V6? is it comparable?
