  • air compressor for air con

just a quicky to vince or anyone else who may know. with the air con unit being redundant and just on so i dont have to find a new sized belt that fits i have kept the air con unit on the engine. what do think the chances are of fitting some kind of air compressor in place of that unit?

Keep the A/C pump but use it to fill a tank for compressed air.

You'll need a tank obviously, e.g. an empty fire extinguisher would be ideal, a pressure gauge, an adjustable auto shut-off valve, plus an in-line oiler to keep the A/C pump lubricated.
Then just apply 12v to the A/C pump to engage the clutch to fill the tank. (When engine is running of course)

Mmm sounds a bit technical to be made at home but i guess thats the prinicipal for an air compressor. will have research and see if i can do that without blowing myself up!

There used to be a write-up by a member on here that showed how to use the Surf's redundant A/C compressor as on board air. I think it was Gamedawn.(Roger)
