thanks for that vince the battery has been off a lot lately with replacing all the sensors and now the speedo multiplyer so give a week to see if it settles down!

think i have manged to sort the problem out, came to me when i was cleaning th inside of the throttle body at mates garage, he said rotate the throttle position sensor and sure enough the revs settle down a bit! also removed the dash pot as that might be jammed and causing the butterfly to stay slightly open! so now its 1000 revs at temp and about 800rpm in drive will do the brke claer test to see if there is a vacuum leak but should be nearly there!
