vince just to let you know you were correct on not firing on all cylinders after looking at cracked exhaust did compression test although from cold they all seemed the same about 9.5bar 145 psi which i think is min reading on FSM but does say do it at engine temp and looked at the HT leads no6 was corroded so put a new set on and replaced dizzy cap also the reading between the new and old leads was alot 10 ohms differenace! so should give better spark and now fire on all cylinders! seems faster. the coolant situation have removed the expansion bottle and set up like you had and bleed it from the hole above thermo and filled it up think an air lock was creating engine side of thermo not letting it open and causinf pressure build up?? my theory anyway probably wrong but seems OK now?! so will give it a run and see how it copes not missing this years snow!!!

I'm experimenting with a GM throttle body and actuator control at present. The reason is, that the actuator has 8 serial ports. Each port runs via what appears to be a modbus control( which is uncannily like the control for certain waste sites)instead of switching functions on and off it uses a dedicated signal per cylinder. I'm getting 8 signals in the right order, and the serial data is requesting enough spark...it's a work in progress and it's unclear what the end result will be...apart from maybe fly by wire throttle!Non intercooled nothing.

How's that transmission cooler performing? Might need a scarf around it at the moment with this weather.
havent noticed anything differnence to the GB in the change of weather but havent driven it very far in the cold as only had it back on the road saturday and hasnt ran since bala at beginning of Nov! i think its good off road as not having any problem with it, but could put a valve switch on it so it can either run thorugh the bottom of the rad or through the cooler??? will keep you updated!
keep us updated graham on your mod have the taste for mods once the engine is fitted its hard just to leave it alone!Last edited by dannyboy77; 29 November 2010, 14:15.http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/showthread.php?t=55797
